In memoriam

One of the leaders of and activist in a Yugoslav-oriented student movement. After the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914 he was tried for nationalist activities in December 1914 and sentenced to seven months in prison, where he died. His remains were reburied in Ljubljana in 1923, and in 1939 he war interred in an ossuary designed by Edo Ravnikar. The ossuary also contains the remains of 15 officers, 4,701 Austro-Hungarian soldiers, 342 Russian prisoners of war, 80 Romanian prisoners of war, and 79 Serbian prisoners of war.
