James Parrish

In memoriam

James Parrish (real name: Dimitris Paraschakis, 1921-26 May 1982) was a film producer. Born in 1921 in the village Vatoussa of Mytilene, studied at the Faculty of Agriculture of Thessaloniki and Agricultural Institute University of Beirut in Lebanon. In 1948 he emigrated to America, and in the early years of his stay in the USA he studied at the School of Film 20th Century Fox, took American citizenship and became director of the advertising of United Artists (1948-1952). Having worked as a production manager in films of 20th Century Fox, in the late '50s he returned to Greece, giving a new impetus to film productions. Within a decade, has produced in 54 Greek films, many of which were distinguished on tickets, Thessaloniki Film Festival (5 Awards for Best Picture). Died in 1982 aged 61.
