10095 Serjeant John McIntosh Morrison Died at the 80th.General Hospital, Central Macedonia on the 30th.September 1918, Aged 28, while serving in 'B' Company of the 1st/8th.Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. John was born and enlisted in Dundee and originally landed at Le Havre with the 1st.Battalion, RSF on the 14th.August 1914. John was listed as "Wounded" on the Casualty List issued by the War Office on 13th December 1914 as a Corporal with the 1st.Battalion while in France. On recovery He transferred to 1/8th.Territorial Battalion who by this time were in Salonika and was wounded again on the 28th.November 1916 as a Serjeant with 'Shell Wound, Right Leg'. At this point he had been with the Royal Scots Fusiliers for 6 years & 8 months. On the 9th.January 1917 John was again reported as "Wounded" on the Casualty List issued by the War Office. On the 16th.April he was treated for 'Recrudescence of Malaria' and was transferred by Ambulance train to 80th.General Hospital, Central Macedonia 'Recrudescence of Malaria ' In the context of malaria, recrudescence refers to the reappearance of symptoms after an initial treatment failure, where the parasites persist in the bloodstream and multiply again, leading to a recurrence of the infection. John was son of William & Jemima Morrison, of 13, Mid Wynd, Dundee.
