Konstantinos Kontos

In memoriam

Konstantinos Kontos was the son of Panayiotis (Peter) Kontos and Eleni "Helen" (last name unknown. His birth and death dates are approximations. His family originated from Messinia. Konstantinos had at least 2 brothers (Apostolos and Panayiotis and Christos) and 2 or more sisters: one of the sisters was married in the neighboring village of Longastra to a Mr. Panagakis (or Lanaras) and the other probably in Trypi to a Demetrakopoulos. (the great grandchildren are located in the city of Sparta). In about 1885 he married Kalliopi Antoniadis, (daughter of Spyros and Katina Antoniadis). The couple had 7 children: ~Eleni "Helen" Kontos 1886–1970 ~Peter "Panagiotis" Kontos 1888–1956 ~Spyros Kontos 1889–1946 ~Apostolos "Paul" Kontos 1889–1980 ~Antonios "Tony" Anthony" Kontos Kondus 1893–1966 ~Marigo Kontos 1894–1984 ~Stavias Kontos 1897–1957 Konstantinos was an easy going, low profile man that everybody loved his company. He was a farmer and a builder. He used rocks to create arches and bridges that even today are considered a miracle of mechanics. He loved his children and always tried to do the best for them. Before his death he sadly became blind.
