Private 16621 8th Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. Killed in action, aged 24 years. Son of Zachariah and Emma Howarth (nee Ashworth), of Rochdale. Lived at 217, Milnrow Road, Rochdale. Brother of Mary Emily. (sole legatee). also John. Born at Bridge Inn, Oldham Road, Rochdale, where his father was then the licensee. Enlisted at Rochdale.
