Morgan Fishburne

In memoriam

Son of Mrs. Mary Trice née Mucklestone (formerly Fane) & Charles James Fishburne (dec'd) of 1, Barmouth Rd., Shirley, Croydon. Morgan served first in the Royal Army Medical Corp as a Lance Corporal, Regimental number 1802. He then became a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd County of London Yeomanry of the Westminster Dragoons and Territorial Force. After serving 8 days in France he departed Marseilles on the SS Ivernia enroute to Alexandria, Egypt. Sadly, the Ivernia was torpedoed by German U-boat 47 fifty-eight miles southeast of Cape Matapan, in the Kythira Strait, Greece. Morgan drowned at sea on January 1st, 1917. He was 24 years old.
