President of Yugoslavia. A member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, he served as president from 15 May 1982 – 15 May 1983. Prior to becoming president, he graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Agriculture and during World War II he served in communist Partisan forces. He served as minister of finance and minister of agriculture He then became Chairman of the League of Communists of Serbia serving from 1948 to 1957. He was also President of the National Assembly of Serbia from December 1953 to April 1957. From 5 September 1948 to 16 December 1953 he served as prime minister of Serbia and from 29 June 1963 to 16 May 1967 he served as prime minister of Yugoslavia. He retired in 1984.
