In memoriam

Son of John Gills (1858-1935) and Ellen (Bennett) Gills (1864-1937). 3rd child of 8 children.Worked as a coal miner. Kitchener Volunteer,enlisted 1st September 1914 9th border went out to Salonika/Macedonia from France 1915.They were the Pioneer Battalion of 22nd Division. Died of Malaria 3rd October 1918.Awarded Star,War and Victory medals. ----- Service No: 17716 Age: 27 Regiment/Service: Border Regiment, 9th Bn. Son of John and Ellen Gills, of 12, Avenue Row, Seaton Delaval, Newcastle-on-Tyne.
