He joined the Royal Garrison Artillery in the 1914-1918 war and saw active service overseas sometime after 1916. He was a Gunner in the 143rd Heavy Battery (regimental number 3378 originally which later became 294102) He died of wounds received in action in Salonika, Greece, aged 21, on 19th May 1917. He is buried in Stuma Military Cemetery in Greece. Tom Hanson received a British War Medal and Victory Merdal posthumously. FAMILY 1939 Register living at 47 Perth Street, Accrington. She is buried here in St James's Churchyard in Millbrook and is named on the headstone. Father Richard Hanson lived at 23 Belfield Road, Accrington when he died in the Queen's Park Hospital in Blackburn, aged 82, on 23rd September 1952. He is buried here in St James's Churchyard in Millbrook and is named on the headstone. Sister Lena Hanson never married, she died at 'Wellfield', Whalley Road, Accrington, aged 89, on 19th July 1983. She is buried here in St James's Churchyard in Millbrook and is named on the headstone.
