He died in a prisoner of war camp near Titograd, Jugoslavia [now Podgorica, Montenegro]. He is also commemorated on the War memorial in Wieting, Gemeinde Klein St. Paul, Bezirk Sankt Veit an der Glan, Kärnten, Österreich. Memorial added with the help of Find A Grave Contributor Jim Powrie .
