In memoriam
Corporal 9554 Royal Fusiliers 3rd Bn. The son of Frederick and Esther McGuinness, he was a certified schoolteacher who lived at 85 James Street, Frenchwood, Preston. Missing and presumed killed while serving in Bulgaria. William McGuinness was accepted as a casualty of war on 27 April 2023 following research by In From the Cold Project, and he is now commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Cenotaph at Preston Old Cemetery.
