He was initially buried as an unknown, found in the sea off Folkestone, on the 13 Dec 1911 in Plot 23, Grave 3741 in Cheriton Road Cemetery, Folkestone, Kent. His body was exhumed by license of the Secretary of State on 20th April 1915 for re-interrment in Andros. Subsequently identified as Michael Koulouthros, aged 14 years, a student of Andros, Greece who was drowned in the English Channel on the 6th November 1911, on the foundering of the ship SS Lordos Byron. A Greek cargo ship, built in 1895 by Workman, Clark & Co. Ltd. and owned by A.A. Embiricos, on voyage from Theodosia to Antwerp with a cargo of grain, foundered near the Casquets.
