Miodrag “Bato” Vlahović

In memoriam

Bato was the son of Anne Spread and Jovan Vlahović. His mother Anne writes to her brother John Mathias Spread on July 5, 1902 from Casa Mangani 375, Buciari per Florence about " the terrible sad news of the death of our only much loved son". She says "he began to look delicate at Easter". They considered taking him away from Belgrade but his condition worsened. "We never thought it would end fatally". A translated Public Thanks was also sent to the Australian family. "In the deepest sorrow touched by so many tokens of esteem and sympathy taking part in the condolence to the memory of our hope, our ideal, our never forgotten son". Bato was a Maturant of the Gymnasium of King Alexander l. He was a member of the library society Nadia. Jovan's Comrade Officers assisted at the burial "of our good, never forgotten adorable only son and all our hope of 19 Years".
