In memoriam

Mirsad Sedić was born on January 4, 1956 in Arapuša, in the municipality of Bosanska Krupa, then in Yugoslavia. He graduated from the Military High School in Mostar, and the Military-Technical Aviation Academy in Sarajevo in 1977. At the beginning of 1992, he joined the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was the deputy commander of the Fifth Corps, and then the commander of the famous 511th Bosnian Army Brigade. He was awarded the Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords in 1998 as a member of the Joint Command of the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the war award with the Golden Lily badge in 1996 as a member of the 511th Glorious Mountain Brigade. He died on July 11, 2004 as a retired general of the Army of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His grave is in the harem of the Alipaša mosque in Sarajevo. A memorial plaque was placed at his birthplace in Arapuša as a sign of memory of the local people of Arapuša.
