One of the six children born to Fadil and Hadžira Zalup, Mustafa "left" home early and immediately after finishing the eighth grade in Parsovići School. He found work as a laborer in Mostar and left behind his parents, brother Ahmet, sisters Tidža, Azra, Sabiha and Fikreta in his native village of Solakova Kula. On the eve of the beginning of the war, Mustafa Zalup joined the "Green Berets", the "Klis" unit, then became a member of the ARBiH, and joined the elite group "Cossacks". With his group, he went to the battlefield near Kreševo, on Lopate hill, where he took part in several fights against HVO units that kept this and the wider region under control. In one of those conflicts, Mustafa Zalup died on July 10, 1993. He stood out for his courage and bravery and was always an example to his comrades-in-arms of how to fight for the freedom of their homeland.
