Nestor Matsas

Nestor Matsas (1935-28 June 2012) was a Greek writer and one of the first notable filmmakers Greek educational films. Nestor Matsas was born in Athens in 1935. This was followed by free education for theater and film in Paris and with a scholarship from the French Government. He is brother of Artemis Matsas. From very early (1951) has occurred in the field of literature with novels and short stories in the magazine Nea Estia. The first collection of short stories was his first book titled "People of Paradise Lost" was released in 1954. This was followed since many books such as biographies, short stories, novels and children's literature. While Nestor Matsas dealt with cinema and especially to rescue the folklore of Greece material having to his credit over 70 ntokimantair, Greek ethnographic content, including three feature films "The roots of our country" with which he awarded Gold Medal and Prize the International Thessaloniki Film Festival, "the Alpha and Omega: Ancient Greek Culture" and "the Great" Alexander. Also considered to be the first to introduce folklore shows on Greek television. Finally the International Rome Film Festival also honorary diploma for two documentaries "The Tale of Theophilus" and "The vow" 1971.
