In memoriam

Niki Atanasiu had a rich theatrical activity (at the National Theatre, Bucharest starting in 1924) and cinematography where he played in roles previously interpreted on stage. He received the title of Artist Emeritus. By Decree no. 514 of August 18, 1964 of the State Council of the Romanian People's Republic, the actor Niki Atanasiu was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Romanian People's Republic "for special merits in the activity carried out in the field of theater, music, visual arts and cinematography". He was awarded the Order of Labor class III (1952) "for the work done on the occasion of the "Caragiale Centenary"" and the Order of Cultural Merit class I (1967) "for long activity in the theater and special merits in the field of dramatic art".
