Prime Minister of Serbia. He held the post four terms: First, from December 3, 1867 to July 3, 1868; second, from October 3, 1883 to February 19, 1884; third, from April 27, 1888 to January 19, 1889; and lastly, from October 27, 1894 to July 7, 1895. Prior to becoming prime minister, he he worked as a clerk in the courts and later became head of the Serbian police. Mihailo Obrenović made him Minister of Internal Affairs in 1860. He then began his journey as prime minister. He is best remembered for re-organizing the police force throughout the country, checking liberal opposition, eradicating wide scale robbery, and held a tight rein of the municipalities. He finally retired in 1901.
