In memoriam

Macedonian Prime Minister. A native of Stip, Yugoslavia, Kljusev became the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, serving from January 1991 until August 1992. He also served as Macedonia's Defence Minister from 1998 to 2000. Also a noted economist, he held several doctorates in that field and was instrumental in helping with his country's currency. He also held several posts in the economic fields including assistant at the Institute for Industrial Scientific Research, researcher and director of the Economics Institute in Skopje, professor and dean of the Skopje Faculty of Economics, and as a member the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences (MANU) from 1988 until his death in 2008. After his death the day of January 18, 2008, was declared a national day of mourning.
