Nikolaos P “Nick” Gouvis

About

Nikolaos was the husband to "Rinio" Vlahouli, who was the daughter of Kostis Vlahoulis and Unknown Vachliotia. (Kostis was the brother of Theothoros Vlahoulis, also buried here.) Nick immigrated to the U.S. in 1907. He became a naturalized U.S. Citizen on 16 Apr 1917 in Winona, Minnesota. He went by the name of Nick Wouvis Panagiotopoulos mostly in the U.S. He served in the U.S. Army during WWI as a PVT, 8th Co., 161st Depot Brigade; No. 4412114 and was honorably discharged on 11 Dec 1918. A year or two later, Nick returned to Kontovazena to visit his widowed mother and probably met and married Rinio at this time.
