Noel Ernest Biden

In memoriam

Born Armidale, NSW. He was the younger son of Ernest Henry & Fannie Teresa (nee Wareham) Biden. He trained at RMC Duntroon and applied for a commission in the AIF on 14 August 1914. He embarked from Sydney with the 1st Field Coy Engineers aboard HMAT "Afric" on 18 October 1914 and landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. He was promoted to Captain in July 1915 and was transferred to the 3rd Field Company Engineers on 10 September 1915. Captain Biden was evacuated to the 3rd General Hospital, Mudros on 22nd November 1915 with paratyphoid and pneumonia. He died Lemnos, Greece on 21 December 1915, aged 22 years. Age: 22 Regiment/Service: Australian Engineers, 3rd Field Coy.
