In memoriam
The tricolor was black, and the blue one who wears it is the right tie! Although not openly, clear signs of division began to appear behind the turbulent events that followed. On August 16, 1907, an open conflict between the congregation (the populace) and the ža occurred for the Rokovo absolution at the church in Sveto. The notary of the parish was Mile Tiljak. Celebrating Holy Mass in the Church of St. Rokov on Rokovo, priest Stipe Vučetić sewed a scarf on the head of a girl from Ričići with a motif of the Serbian flag, which was given to her by a wholesaler from Lovinac, Duro Misčević. After the mass, the priest tried to rape the girl, causing a commotion in which Pavao Brkić tore the scarf off the girl, gave her a crown as compensation, and stepped on the scarf saying "this is Croatian land". At those words, the gendarmes jumped up and wounded five people with knives, of which Brkić was mortally wounded. In addition to Brkić, Frane Baričević, Bujo Nurmi, Mile Brklj Ivan Sekulié were wounded. It happened at the church of St. Roka in front of the house of Jose Vrkljan Demi in front of almost thousands of people. As the gendarmes were still rampaging and threatening them with bayonets, someone went to get the village elder Frano Krpan, known as Vra Šestanović. As he was not at home, his brother Ante Krpan A came and warned the gendarmes to stop or arrest Sergeant Marković who stabbed Br who continued to threaten. The Zandars refused under the pretext that they could catch him, to which Ante asked "can I catch him". After an affirmative answer, he jumped up and caught Marković with his hands around the dogs and shouted: "Here he is!" And then, in order to tie up the wild executioner, the gendarmes pointed their guns at Anto, commanding him: "By the law, let him go!" Ante then let go of the gendarme sergeant and jumped among the people, who then scattered in all directions.
