Service Number: 12/30 Unit: NZEF, Auckland Regiment Next of Kin: Mrs P. Bigwood (wife), 128 Drummond Street, Carlton, Melbourne, Australia Enlistment Address: Empire Hotel, Auckland, New Zealand Percy attested at Auckland 12th August 1914. Embarking 16 October 1914 from Auckland on the vessel either Star of India or Waimana for Suez, Egypt. He was admitted to No 1 Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, Greece on 16th April 1915 with Pneumonia. Percy died six days later. Son of Ernest James and Emily Bigwood of Worcester, England, Percy gave that he wasn't married when he attested in 1914, but he was married at the time to Caroline Ellen Moore, married in Australia in 1908. Percy was in New Zealand with his brother Wilfred, both working in Auckland, Wilfred attested on 15th September 1914 at Epsom Camp. Percy was also known as Percy Plantagenet Bigwood, he also had a brother Wilfred also joined up from New Zealand; Wilfred survived.
