Petar Dobrović

Petar Dobrović (Pécs, January 14, 1890 Belgrade, 27 January 1942) was a famous Serbian painter and politician born in the town of Pecs, Hungary today. One of the leading representatives of post-war modernism of Yugoslav art. As a representative of Serbian colourism, Dobrović was known for his portraits and landscapes. In the early years he was a noted Impressionist and Cubist. He also wrote art criticism. He was president of the small, short-term Serbian-Hungarian Baranja-Bajski Republic, which was proclaimed on August 14, 1921.
