Peter Metzger

Peter (spelled Petar in Croatian death record and other primary source records) Metzger was born in Racz-Militics, Bacs-Bodrog, Hungary in the Vojvodina province (located in present day Serbia). He was of ethnic German descent. His ancestors immigrated from Germany in the early 1700's during a major migration of Germans into Austria-Hungary. Father of Eva, Susanna (Krisch), Mary (Puhl), Rozalia (Fieder), Anna (Kirhmajer), Adam, Katherine (Kirhmajer) and Peter. Son of Peter (1830-1886) and Marianna Reinhard (1837-1888). Peter/Petar lived with his wife Suzanna (Spiegl) Metzger (1870-1934) in Satnica and Djakovo, Croatia. Four of his children immigrated to the United States in the early 1900's. Susanna settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary and Adam in Cleveland, Ohio, and Rozalia initially settled in Cleveland then later relocated to Canada. Katherine (Katica) and Anna (Ana) remained in Djakovo and are buried with their parents.
