In memoriam

CENTER PANEL: "Symbolic grave. Forty-one fallen soldiers in the First World War 1914-1918 and hitherto suppressed victims of the communist revolution 1942-1945. Primarily men and young men from the Slovenian Home Guard, who fought for the bright ideals of God, Nation, and Homeland. They did not fall in battle; after the end of the war they were treacherously betrayed and murdered by their brothers' hands. ‘Mother, give me a word / A word of farewell / You're seeing me for the last time / I'll no longer return to you.' – France Balantič. 1994.
