In memoriam

Born and lived in Zaplana at the Petrček farm. Murdered at Češirek Woods (Češirkov gozd). On July 25th and 26th, 1942, the Partisans rounded up several men in the area and held them at their base at Češirek Woods near Smrečje. They accused them of planning to join the Village Guard and then murdered seven of them, including Peter Šinkovec. They were tortured and forced to dig their own graves first. The four graves of the seven men were discovered soon after, and their bodies were disinterred on November 2nd and reburied at the Rovte cemetery the following day.
