Private Martin, aged 21, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 24 May 1941. He was the son of William Jacob and Victoria Louise Martin, of Orroroo, SA. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 12. He is also remembered on the Roll of Honour in his hometown of Orroroo SA & his name is located at panel 74 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
