The 101st Brigade of the RFA were part of the 22nd Division, XII Corp. Capt. P. McConnell was probably KIA at the Battle of Doiran (18th/19th September, 1918) attacking the Bulgarian 1st Army near Dojran Lake, between North Macedonia and Greece. PERSONAL WAR NOTES Capt. Primrose McConnell, R.F.A., son of Mr. Primrose McConnell, of North Wycke, Southminster, has been awarded the Military Cross. He was mentioned in dispatches last January. In the last two and a half years Capt. McConnell has been on the Salonica Front. [Essex Newsman - Saturday 21 September 1918, p.3] ESSEX ROLL OF HONOUR. The sad news has reached Southminster that Capt. Primrose McConnell, R.F.A., M.C., son of Mr. Primrose McConnell, of North Wycke, Southminster, was killed in action on the Salonica Front on Sept. 18th. It is only a fortnight since we announced that Capt. McConnell had been awarded the Military Cross. The deceased was B.Sc, Edinburgh University. [Chelmsford Chronicle - Friday 04 October 1918, p.3]
