Rachela “Ruhla” Basgher Rabinovici

Rachela ,my grandmother, got married to her cousin Abraham Rabinovici, in 1908 The young couple had two daughters: Hana and Saly.The family had a good life until 1915  when one day, Abraham came home from his horse- riding , felt badly, and just died. His untimely death was a great tragedy for Rachel, his young wife (maybe it was the  direct cause of her heart illness.Rifca, Rachel's mother, took good care of the girls .They were been treated very well, but their mother's health had been aggravated and gradually  deteriorated. She died at the age of 39. At that time, the girls were 17 and 19 of age. Rifca passed away two weeks after her daughter's death.She was only 62 years old. Rachel's youth and beauty as reflected in the photos of that time ,and as described by those who knew her, make it difficult for me to think of her as a grandmother and utter the word 'grandma'. So, I just call her "My  Mother's Mom".
