In memoriam
Murder victim. Victim of the Srebrenica massacre, which was perpetrated by the Army of the Republika Srpska and the Scorpions paramilitary group, claiming the lives of 8,373 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), mainly men and boys. Serbian soldiers forced Ramo to call for his son Nermin by name and also others who were hiding in the forested hills overlooking where he was being being held. The Serbs filmed him calling out for them to surrender and saying it was safe with the Serbs. Eventually his son surrendered (or was captured) because both were executed during one of the massacres. The sculpture "Nermina come ...!" is a memorial sculpture that immortalizes the Srebrenica Massacre victims. The sculpture is the work of artist Mensud Keča and was erected on July 10, 2015 in Sarajevo's Veliki Park, near the memorial to the murdered children of besieged Sarajevo.
