Age 22 Richard served as a Driver, Royal Army Service Corps, British Army during World War II. He was assigned as a Dispatcher on C-47 #41-38707, 28th Troop Carrier Squadron, 60th Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force in Italy. C-47 #41-38707 took off from Brindisi, Italy on a Supply Mission. It is believed they crashed due to extreme weather conditions. Richard was killed in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war. He was originally interred in Italy and was later interred here.
