Robert John Lee Grindley

28915 Private L. GRINDLEY South Lancashire Regt. 18th September 1918 Peace Perfect Peace.

He was the son of Mary Dawson Grindley, of 10 Stanley Road, Hoylake, Cheshire, and the late Robert John Grindley. Before he enlisted he was a sculptor. Robert known as Lee was a Private in the South Lancashire Regiment, 9th Battalion. Service Number: 28915. He was killed in action in Salonika (now called Thessaloniki) aged 23 yrs. He is commemorated on Chester Town Hall War Memorial and on St Peter's Church War Memorial, Eastgate Street, Chester.
