Roderick Mackay, the son of John and Dollie (Macleod) Mackay and husband of Elizabeth R. R. Young, was a young RAF Flying Officer when he went missing during a mission over Monemvasia, Laconia, Greece in December of 1943. He is remembered on the memorial of his wife and other Young family members at the Campsie-Lennoxtown Cemetery. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission also maintains this memorial to Roderick at the Phaleron War Cemetery near Athens, Greece.
