Sakib Kovačić

Like many of his fellow villagers, Sakib Kovačić went to the nearby city of Konjic after finishing eight years of elementary school. He successfully finished high school in Konjic and followed his fellow villagers again when in November of 1991 he joined the "Green Berets" unit "KLIS." He joined the Army of RBiH after its formation. He was the pride of his father Avdo, mother Zemka but also his wife Šefika, and son Elmin and daughter Elma. Sakib Kovačić was a successful participant in numerous actions of the "KLIS" units and the Army of RBiH, in which he expressed determination, energy and courage, for which he was recognized by both comrades and commanders. He served as an example of a patriot and a man of trust. He was killed on September 27, 1993, after another clash with HVO units defending the village of Studencica from gunfire.
