13958 Private Samuel William Snow, Died from Malaria in a Miltary Hospital in Salonika, on the 10th.July 1916 while serving with the 7th.Battalion, The Royal Berkshire Regiment. In the 1901 Census, Samuel (17) was living at 66, Elm Road, Low Leyton, West Ham, London with his father Samuel William (42) occupation 'Yard Porter', mother (40), and four siblings, Joseph E. (15) 'Errand Boy', George F. (13), Arthur A. (11) and Helena E. (5). By 1901, Samuel (27) working as a 'Builders Labourer' and was now living at 127 Sidmouth Road Leyton NE, Low Leyton, London with his father Samuel William (52) 'Gateman'now a widower as his wife Alice had died aged 44 in the 3rd.Qtr.of 1905. Still living in the family home were brothers Joseph Eduard (27) & George Frederick (23, both 'Station Porters' and sister Eleanor Edith (16). Samuel had married Maud Cross (b.25-9-1883) in the 4th.Qtr.of 1903 and the couple moved in to his fathers house with four of their children, Samuel William (b20-1-1904), Walter (b.3-3-1906), Maud Elizabeth (b.28-2-1908) and Helena Edith May (b.20-10-1910). When Samuel died in 1916, he was the father to six children as George Frederick was born on the 3-6-1913 and Joseph Edward on the12-9-1915). Samuel William Snow (Snr.) died, Aged 67, in the 4th.Qtr.of 1925.
