Silvia Dumitrescu - Timică

Silvia Dumitrescu was born on October 29 , 1902 in the city of Craiova . She acted as an actress on theater stages for 75 years, starting her career at the Ventura Theater in Bucharest. Since 1947, she performed as an actress of the "IL Caragiale" National Theater in Bucharest. She was married to the actor George Timică (1886-1954). She has also acted in a small number of films, mainly for television . One of her memorable roles was that of Coana Eleonora Arbore in the play Micul infern by Mircea Ștefănescu . The play premiered at the Nottara Theater in March 1977. The last performance took place in 1992, when the artist turned 90 years old. Silvia Dumitrescu-Timică received the title of Artist Emeritus before 1960. She was awarded the Order of Labor Class III (1952) "for the work done on the occasion of the "Caragiale Centenary"" and the Order of Cultural Merit Class II (1967) "for special merits in the field of dramatic art".
