In memoriam
Socrates Karantinos (Athens, 1906-1979), theater director and writer. He first appeared as a director in 1933 bringing the "Imaginary Invalid" by Moliere. From 1933 and 1937 he directed the "New Experimental School" and taught treatment of speech in Maraslio Academy. As a director he worked in "New Dramatic Theatre", the "Company Greek Theatre" in "Athens Theater", the National Opera and "Attica Tent", from 1938 to 1958. With the National Theatre collaborated for the first time 1946, when it raised the "Kapodistrias" N. Kazantzakis and occasionally directed plays of the classical and neoclassical repertoire. In 1961 he took over general manager of the newly established National Theatre of Northern Greece, where he remained until 1967, providing invaluable work: already in the spring of 1962 held its first tour of the theater in 15 Macedonian cities, with all the works of the first period, the institution which established a annual base.
