Cenotaph, see also Stanko Trček . Stanko Trček was born on May 5th, 1912 in Stara Vrhnika. He was the eldest of three children. His mother died when he was seventeen, after which his father provided for the family by himself. He attended the primary school in Vrhnika from 1918 to 1924, and then secondary school in Ljubljana from 1924 to 1932, where he lived in the Tabor student dormitory. He decided to enter the priesthood and joined the Vincentians in Ljubljana. He enrolled in the seminary in 1933 and was ordained on July 3rd, 1938 by Bishop Gregorij Rožman. From October 1938 to April 1939 he performed his Yugoslav military service in Kosovska Mitrovica. He then served as a hospital chaplain in Ljubljana and lived in the mission house at Tabor. Towards the end of the Second World War, he started serving as a military chaplain, and in May 1945 he accompanied the Slovenian Home Guard troops in their retreat to Austrian Carinthia.
