Posting on Death: 2/11th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. - Service No. WX1527, he was killed in action in Crete Greece. Son of Frederich Thomas and Alice Wood. Husband of Edna Alice May Wood of South Perth, Western Australia. He was Mentioned in Despatches. Captain Wood, aged 37, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in STH PERTH WA, also his name is located at panel 35 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial. Father Frederick Thomas Wood (1878-1949) Mother Alice Jones (1881-1940) Spouse Edna Alice May Hutchinson (1905-1980).
