Stefan Tyszinski was born in Hungary--although that may have been no farther away than Transylvania, Romania, which was then a part of the Empire of Hungary. All that is known is that he was born in Hungary and moved to Solca, Austria, now Romania, as a young man. There he married,on January 28, 1875 Victoria Valeria Kuffner who was from a village close-by (probably Arbora) Stefan and Victoria had a small farm where they grew mostly garden vegetables. They were German in ethnic identity and attended the "German Catholic" church, as opposed to the Romanian Orthodox Church. Solca was the home of many German immigrants who settled there at the urging of the Austrian Empire which was hoping to increase the population in the area to act as a buffer against the Ottoman Empire to the south. Stefan and Victoria had five children, Pauline (b. Solca 11-11-1876) who married Johann Gerhart in Solka on February 28, 1897 and died in Chula Vista, CA on July 03, 1962; Peter Tyszinski(b.
