Private Gibson, aged 22, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 28 May 1941. He was the son of David and Olive May Gibson, of Girilambone, NSW. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 11, the Roll of Honour in Nyngan NSW,also his name is located at panel 30 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
