Gunner Mitchell, aged 33, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 24 May 1941. He was the son of Sydney John and Marion Victoria Mitchell, of Westgarth, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency.
