Sylvia Cernescu , alongside Miss Neti Herscovici , was abducted by the notorious Terente and held captive for several days. Their release was secured through a ransom paid by the Herscovici family. Following her ordeal, Sylvia documented her experience in a memoir entitled In the Hands of Terente , offering a personal account of her captivity. In 1928, Sylvia attracted the romantic attention of Gheorghe Cocoș , a customs officer. Despite his growing infatuation, Sylvia did not reciprocate his feelings. After a period of separation, the two crossed paths again, during which Cocoș threatened her with a firearm.
