Service number 63856, The Royal Welsh (Welch) Fusiliers, 24th (Denbighshire Yeomanry) Private Thomas Dyson of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers whose home address was 30, Harold Street, Middleton, and was 25 years of age, was drowned at sea in the early part of 1917. He was the son of Mr John Thomas Dyson and Emma Harwood, Tonge Vale, Husband of Annie Battison, Father of Fred, and was assistant secretary at the Cromer Mill, Middleton. The late soldier attended St. Michael's Day School as a boy, and afterwards Heath Street Secondary School Cheetham Hill. He also attended St.Michael's Sunday School, and was in the church choir for many years. For a period he was also secretary of the brotherhood.
