Thomas Lionel Hodgkin

Thomas Lionel Hodgkin, historian, was the eldest son of Robert Howard and Dorothy (Forster) Hodgkin. He was educated at the Dragon School (Oxford), Winchester College, and Balliol College, Oxford (graduating in 1932). Thomas taught in England, and in 1934, was offered a position in the Palestine civil service. He resigned from the colonial service in 1936, and returned to England. Thomas Hodgkin met Dorothy Mary Crowfoot in Mar, 1937. They were married Dec, 1937, in Norfolk. Dorothy was the daughter of John Winter Crowfoot and Grace Mary (Molly) Hood. Thomas and Dorothy had three children; Luke Howard, Prudence Elizabeth "Liz", and John Robin Tobias "Toby". Thomas Lionel Hodgkin died of a heart attack, Mar 25, 1982, at a hotel in Tolon (Tolo), Greece. He was buried in a local cemetery.
