Tomasina Bruttapelle was the daughter of Antonio Bruttapelle and Anastasia Coschich. She had at least two siblings, Giacomo (1791-1870) and Maddalena (b. ~1797). Her father was an Italian stonemason who settled in Vrboska, on the island of Hvar, in what is now Croatia. Antonio worked with his family in their Vrboska workshop, designing and building altars throughout Dalmatia. Tomasina was named for her maternal grandmother, Tomasina Angelini, whose family were nobles from the town of Hvar. Tomasina died in Vrboska on 25 September 1795. She was approximately 6 months old* when she died, and her father's name was listed on her death record. Tomasina was buried at the cemetery of the church of S. Lorenzo (Sv. Lovre), according to the record. * It is unknown where Tomasina was born. Some 1795 records are missing from Vrboska's baptism books, so it is possible she was born there. The family relocated to Split at some point as well, but she is not listed in the baptism books for Sv. Dujma in Split. Baptism, Confirmation and Death records for Sv. Lovre parish in Vrboska are available at Croatia's Archives in Zagreb.
