In memoriam
Four Liberation Front members were killed by Italian forces on 2 (or 3) July 1942. Tomaž Vrhovec was a veterinarian and owned an inn in Ljubljanica (a hamlet in the village of Butajnova), where a Partisan meeting had taken place in September 1941. Jože Mivšek was the school director in Šentjošt. He was the brother of Frančiška Mivšek Vrhovec and lived with her and his brother-in-law Tomaž Vrhovec. Betka Nagode was a school teacher from Verd near Vrhnika and was living at the school in Šentjošt. Leopold Leben was a butcher and was temporarily living with the Vrhovec family. The Italian forces arrived from Rovte in Šentjošt on 1 July 1942 to engage the Partisan forces. Around noon on 2 July Betka Nagode was bicycling from Verd to Šentjošt, when she was stopped by the Italians, searched, and arrested. The Italians then went to Ljubljanica and arrested Mivšek, Vrhovec, and Leben. All three were taken to Rovte and shot. Summarized from Zaveza no. 16 (22 June 2011).
