Valentin Ludwig Theodor Kiparsky (March 26, 1838, Wenden - February 7, 1878) - chief physician of a military hospital located in Gorny-Studen during the Russian-Turkish war (1877-1878). Before the war, Dr. Kiparsky served as an intern at the Moscow military hospital. Emperor Alexander II stayed in Gorny-Studen during the war often visited the military hospital and each time expressed his gratitude to the doctors and sisters of mercy. Doctor Kiparsky fell ill with typhus and died in Adrianople (Edirne), leaving a family of a wife and five children, one of whom became the renowned gynecologist Rene Kiparsky.
