Venedictos Printesis

In memoriam

Former Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Athenai, Monsignor Venedictos Printesis was born in Manna, Greece, on February 10, 1917, and was ordained to the priesthood at 23 years of age on March 23, 1940. Aged 42, following the demise of Msgr. Marius Macrionitis SJ., at the age of 45, Pope John XXIII appointed him as his successor as Archbishop of Athenai, receiving his episcopal consecration from Archbishop Joannis Baptist Filippucci on June 21, 1959. Msgr. Printesis resigned his office on November 17, 1972, at the age of 55, and died on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, aged 91.
